Deborah, Director of Compliance at The Foundation, joined Carly, Head of Marketing at The Health Lottery to take part in the Beauty Banks annual Wrapping Day at the Estée Lauder offices in London. Together they joined a group of 96 volunteers to gift wrap more than 3,500 donated beauty and hygiene gifts to be distributed across the UK.
Beauty Banks is a charity that operates nationwide through four warehouses in Brighton, Croydon, Dundee and Winsford (Greater Manchester). Thanks to players of The Health Lottery the organisation has received a £75,000 donation to give thousands more people access to hygiene essentials like soap, toothpaste, and deodorant. These are everyday items most of us take for granted, but that no one should have to live without.
The Wrapping Day was full of willing volunteers from across the beauty industry, who came together to get these gifts out on the road to people living in poverty. Good quality products are donated by brands to Beauty Banks who then distribute them through partner charities such as food banks, schools and community groups.
Deborah said:
“It was fantastic to witness firsthand the support Beauty Banks have from some incredibly influential beauty brands. Their model depends on nurturing great relationships with partner organisations, and it was clear from today’s event that they have many people who want their endeavour to be a success.”
Beauty Banks will keep wrapping to get to their target of 5,000 gifts before Christmas!
It was great to see the Beauty Bank team in action and we look forward to visiting their Dundee and Croydon warehouses in the next couple of months.
