Down Syndrome Training and Support Service provides support, knowledge, guidance and specific training to all involved in the life journey of a person born with Down Syndrome. Home visits and early intervention from birth helps a family on the best pathway to mainstream education, with training for school to keep expectations high.

Thanks to players of The Health Lottery, £21,513 has been awarded to support speech and language groups. These groups work with children from age five to adulthood, covering speech, clarity, language, communication and oral skills to aid independence and inclusion. Social activities include a youth club, dancing, gym, family Saturday sessions and adult services to enhance everyone’s journey to a fulfilling life in mainstream society.

Charlotte Roscoe – Mitchell said,

“The funding from The Health Lottery Foundation will be used to continue providing necessary speech and language group sessions for children and young people with Down Syndrome. This funding will help to continue shaping the lives of people with Down Syndrome, ensuring they can be included within society through development of speech, language and communication skills. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Health Lottery players to enable inclusion and acceptance into society.”
